Team Rocket is 82 cards on paper and 83 in a real master set, because Dark Raichu is printed 83/82. It was the first secret rare the game ever made, and it is the one card new collectors leave out of their binder plan and then have nowhere to put.

This kit is a printed placeholder for every single card, numbered and in set order, so the binder reads as complete from the first day. Slide a placeholder out, slide the real card in. No gaps, no rearranging, no guessing what is missing.

Built for the two print runs

Team Rocket had a 1st Edition run and an Unlimited run. The checklist gives every card a tick box for each, so you can see at a glance whether you own one, the other or both.

The cover explains the tell in plain language. 1st Edition carries a black stamp to the left of the artwork and is the earliest and scarcest run. Unlimited has no stamp and is where nearly everyone starts.

Three things this checklist will save you from

• Dark Raichu is 83/82. Higher than the set size. The kit leaves it a slot at the end so your page count works out.
• Cards 18 to 34 are non-holo prints of the same cards as 1 to 17. That is why Team Rocket is 82 cards in English and only 65 in Japanese, and why a master set needs two of each of those fourteen Dark Pokemon.
• Dark Dragonite 5/82 exists with no foil at all. The legitimate non-holo is 22/82, so a flat card reading 5/82 is the famous printing error, not a fake. Do not throw it in the bulk box.

The 18 holos, called out on the cover

Team Rocket is where the game started putting foil on cards that were not Pokemon. Here Comes Team Rocket! 15/82 was the first holo Trainer and Rainbow Energy 17/82 was the first holo Energy. Both are on the holo grid on the cover with their own tick boxes, alongside Dark Charizard, Dark Blastoise, Dark Gyarados and the rest.

Sizes and printing

Placeholders cut to 63 x 88 mm. A real card is 63.5 x 88.9 mm, so the placeholder sits flush in a standard 9 pocket page without bowing the plastic. Print at 100% or Actual size, never Fit to page. Use matte cardstock between 220 and 300 gsm. Matte beats gloss, because gloss grips the inside of the pocket and is a nuisance to slide out. Ten sheets covers the whole set.
